Managing both critical as well as chronic health issues can take considerable energy and emotional resilience. It can bring up much negative self talk such as "what next?", "why me...again.", "why should I fight it". Sometimes we project how others see us with such self talk as "I don't want to be a bother", "they shouldn't have to put up with me". Research now shows us that negative self talk and a depressive mind set actually can adversely impact healing, and inner resources. I am someone who has personally experienced major illness and critical health issues (Crohn's Disease, Stroke) I can attest to those common themes and responses when we feel like we've had enough. Given my experiences and what I've learned over time, as well as my clinical expertise, I believe I have the knowledge and strategies to help when giving up seems like a reasonable option. Let's work together on this.- Rod Chant MSW RSW RCC
