Good communication is a critical factor to every human relationship. A healthy relationship will allow room for both partners to speak and listen to one another. Conflict is present in all healthy relationships. If both partners are willing to communicate through their conflict, then the conflict can become an opportunity for growth. Taking some time to become aware of underlying hurts and unfulfilled needs will greatly help you address the conflict at hand. This self-awareness helps you to communicate your feelings, thoughts, and desires to your partner. If you encounter difficulties that seem to be too complex to handle on your own, a trained counsellor can help you and your partner communicate more effectively. As a therapist I see my role as helping those who find themselves in conflict to navigate through the process and identify tools to successfully address unresolved conflicts, leading to healthier relationships.
