Depression

Depression is one of the most common reasons people seek counselling, and it is highly treatable. Most people experience a depressed mood from time to time. Sometimes we just get down.

Clinical depression is more than just a case of "the blues"; It is not a weakness, nor is it something that you can simply "snap out" of, it is a mood disorder in which persistant negative feelings, behaviours and thoughts interfere with everyday life routines. It can leave a person feeling lethargic, unmotivated, hopeless, and in some cases can lead to thinking life isn't worth living.

Common treatments include one-to-one counselling, medication or a combination of both.

When one's quality of life becomes significantly compromised, counselling should be considered to address the symptoms and feelings, in a safe and supportive environment.
