There’s so much polarization in the World these days. “If you are not with me, then not only are you against me, but you are actually a threat to me. You are going to burn down my house!” This explains why cults, for example, shut off almost all outside contact or communication. What’s missing is open dialogue. Dialoguing is an exchange of ideas, opinions, perspectives and as such an exchange of information. Gaining information is EMPOWERING. When we obtain information we more often than not, taking control of our life (you can now understand why Cults, dictators, any closed system, does not want this to happen. We can bring this right down to relationships with our partners, our children and our communities. If we can just listen to each other, withhold pre-conceived perceptions and judgement, we build a bridge between us, and learn that we don’t have to enter into conflict, and stir up destructive anger. We can feel safe and gain maybe a little more wisdom about each other.
